Programme description

The graduate university study in Art Education is the second level of university education (level 7.1. in accordance with CROQF), and can only be attended by students who completed the equivalent undergraduate study programme (minimum of 180 ECTS credits).

By taking all examinations and fulfilling the obligations according to the individual study programme, students after two years of full-time study complete the second phase of comprehensive study and acquire the academic title of: Master of Art Education. The graduate study in Art Education is modular. According to their affinities in creating individual artistic expression, students can choose the following modules: graphics, sculpture and painting.

In addition to the artistic development, students simultaneously acquire pedagogical, psychological and methodological knowledge and skills as well as necessary cognitive and practical skills. These create a basis for future, more advanced independent work and professional thinking, followed by personal critical and self-critical review as well as personal and professional development.

The lectures take place at the Academy and at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences within the teaching module framework.

The acquired competencies and the degree enable students’ further development and allow student to take a national professional exam for teachers, which is a prerequisite for working in national educational institutions that focus on fine arts and culture. Furthermore, the MA graduates can set up their own programmes for educating children and adults in fine arts or they can further develop artistically.

All courses are semester-based, which enables increased mobility of students to other contents within the institution as well as to other study programmes abroad in shorter study visits.
After completing the graduate study, it is possible to continue education at the higher level both in Croatia and abroad.

The graduate study in Art Education equates to 120 ECTS credits, and lasts for 2 years (4 semesters).
