In the renovated building of the former barracks on Trsat, fully equipped with modern lecture halls, sculptural workshops, workshops for woodworking, ceramics, glass, mosaic, lithography, intaglio and letterpress printing and screen printing, computer workshop, photo studio, projection hall and film studio, there is the Academy of Applied Arts of the University of Rijeka.
The Academy offers undergraduate studies in applied arts, art education, acting and media, as well as corresponding graduate studies. In accordance with their own wishes, students can spend part of their studies abroad, within the Erasmus + CEEPUS mobility programme funded by the European Commission, at foreign institutions with which the Academy has signed bilateral agreements.
The study programmes are fully harmonised with the Bologna Process, adapted to the new reform guidelines and the system of ECTS credits in the European education system, which enables students of the Academy to study equivalent studies in Europe. The system of elective courses, flexibility of studies and interdisciplinary teaching and interfaculty offer of courses illustrate this practice in the best light. The study is based on a model of consultative and research teaching with a strong component of individual student mentoring.
