About the Academy of Applied Arts

In the newly refurbished building, situated at the University Campus in Trsat, with the fully equipped modern classrooms, and workshops for sculpture, woodwork, metal, ceramics, printmaking, jewellery design workshop, together with a computer workshop, and photo laboratory, prominent artists and art historians will take you on a four year undergraduate studies and one-year graduate studies. Professors with international references guarantee you to acquire fundamental knowledge in the fields of fine arts, as well as competences from the specialist areas of applied arts.

At the Academy of Applied Arts, students can choose to enrol into the undergraduate study of Applied Arts and undergraduate study of Art Education, as well as the adequate graduate studies. According to their preferences, students can spend a part of the study programme abroad within the Erasmus mobility programme financed by the European Union, at the following foreign institutions that the Academy of Applied Arts has signed the Erasmus Agreement with:  the College of Art and Design in Aachen, in Germany, Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, in Poland, Pedagoški fakultet at the University of Ljubljana and the School of Arts at the University of Nova Gorica in Slovenia.

Study programmes at the Academy are organised in compliance with the Bologna process, and the system of transferable ECTS credits, which has been adapted according to the new curriculum reform in Croatia, thus opening the door to Europe and the world for all students of the Academy. This in particular relates to the system of elective courses, the flexibility of study, interdisciplinary lessons, and inter-faculty course offer. The whole study system is based on the model of consultative and research based type of lessons, with the highly emphasised element of individual approach towards students.
